In a 2009 article, Gilles Laprévote discusses the booklet accompanying a box set of three Pathé-Marconi LPs featuring recordings made between 1929 and 1957 by Édouard Commette on his organ at the Primatial Church of Saint John in Lyon – some of these recordings were included in the box set Orgues et organistes français du XXe siècle (5 CDs, EMI, 2002, a box set that is now out of print and which Warner Classics would be well advised to reissue…). This 1969 booklet (in French) traces the life and work of the musician.

This document refers to the former organ of Saint-Jean Cathedral in Lyon: the one played by Édouard Commette, long before Quoirin’s reconstruction in 2022 (in French).

Also very interesting: an archive from the Inventory of Organs in France from the 1980s and 1990s (in French) concerning the former organ, which was in very poor condition at the time.
